Welcome to Okanagan Pride! We are a non-profit organization committed to serving the Okanagan's LGBTQ community. We create events and offer programs to connect our community. The organization depends on volunteers, membership, sponsorship and patronage to thrive, and we are grateful for the support we are receiving from the community. Our Pride Centre located in down town Kelowna, a landmark with its distinctive Pride mural, serves as a place for programs, meetings and social activities being a truly safe space for gay, lesbian, transgender and queer identified people. We also host the popular annual Okanagan Pride Festival which draws visitors from throughout the Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada, and the United States.
Okanagan Pride Festival, August 11 - 17, 2013
Make your plans now to join us for the Okanagan Pride Festival 2013 - "It's a Splash"! What a better backdrop to the festival than the hot beaches and sparkling Lake Okanagan surrounded by orchards and vineyards. Kelowna is known for its perfect summer weather, amazing local wines, fabulous dining, and tons of outdoor activities. This year's festival has something for everyone. Our Festival in the Park features a BBQ and Beer Garden and there is just nothing better on a hot summer day by the lake. This year's entertainment is sure to be fun and inspiring. The week long festivities will wrap up with the "Taste the Rainbow" dance with hot DJs and of course outrageous drag performances. Stay connected for updates and the release of event information and tickets. There are some surprises in store this year!
Events Throughout the Year
Join us for weekly events at the Pride Centre where it is always fun to meet the locals and visitors. Our team of volunteers are always creating interesting events including regular socials where you can enjoy drinks from the bar or hangout with friends in the Chill Lounge. Community dances are held approximately every two months where you can dance the night away with popular DJs and enjoy entertainment from Kelowna's drag celebrities. Importantly, we also run a programs for youth, the transgender community, and offer space for an alchoholics anonymous program.
Membership
Enjoy the benefits of a membership in Okanagan Pride Society. Memberships are affordable and offer free entry to most events at the Pride Centre, discounts to dances and Okanagan Pride Festival events, as well as discounts on services at some local businesses. Your membership dollars also help to fund the overhead of running the Pride Centre and the programs offered. At this time there are no paid staff and all roles are filled by volunteers.
